Come Tour The Secret Garden With Me

I know, I just posted yesterday. This will be short–unless you watch the video below.

Inspired by Layanee’s idea to offer personal garden strolls by appointment, and by Kevin’s video of his mid-March garden tour, and even (a little bit) by Carol’s Gardenpiece Theater, I decided to create a virtual tour of my Secret Garden.

I’ve been fascinated with secret gardens ever since I read The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett. My favorite part is when Mary finds the key and enters the secret garden for the first time.

My garden isn’t very secret until the trees leaf out, but it still feels secluded and special. I’m in a different world when I’m there.

Click on the video to tour my Secret Garden. It’s about ten minutes.

Thank you for watching.

When dealing with frost it is always best to be paranoid. In the spring never think it is too late for one more frost to come. And in the fall never think it too early.

I LOVE that arch. Do you recall where you found it?

Kathy Purdy April 5, 2020, 5:58 pm

It’s a Plow and Hearth arch but I found it at Wayfair.

Thanks for the woodland walk, Kathy. I loved seeing the snowdrop-lined path and all the emerging plants. I can easily understand why you love the spot — it is lovely.

I’m glad you enjoyed it, Pat!

This is beautiful, Kathy. Thank you for the tour! I have a secret garden out back, too, and it’s a blessing. 🙂

I am so happy you shared your Secret Garden with us. What an inviting path lined with Snowdrops and Witch Hazels. It will be magical when the Witches are up high enough to look you in the eye and say welcome. I bet it won’t be long and the snowdrops will seed themselves down the side of the hill. The benches are perfectly situated. I bet you spend many hours there through out the year. I would love to sit there with the frogger guy watching birds. What a peaceful place. Don’t give up on your gazebo. We all need dreams to keep us alive.

Lisa, there is another stump next to the Frogster just waiting for you! I can hardly wait for the witch hazels to get some height. It sounds like you can see my vision. Thanks for commenting!

Thanks for the lovely walk in the woods. We still have snow in our woods in the northeast kingdom.

Kathy Purdy March 28, 2020, 10:31 am

Yes, you are one of the northern gardeners that got the big snow I didn’t get. It won’t be long now, Linda!

Love the tour of your Secret Garden! The brooks are amazing. What a lovely woodland property. I’m hoping that you’ll film periodically so we can follow plants just now coming up. I like your gazebo idea, too; hope it materializes.

Thank you so much for your comments, Sandy. I hope to follow up with tours whenever there’s a high point.
