load of crushed stone in driveway

Soon after, a load of crushed stone was delivered. You can see the Happy Birthday Rock on the pile.

The stone will go at the bottom of a trench that has yet to be dug, to provide drainage for the irregular bluestone pavers. It turns out that what I thought was fieldstone is actually Pennsylvania Bluestone. We are still waiting for a quote for the paving stone.

This is one of several projects planned for Purdyville this spring and summer. I will tell you more when there is more to tell. In the meantime, there are many other areas of the garden to explore. In my garden overview post, I promised to describe many of the areas on the map. I kind of got stuck on the front walk, and it’s time to change focus.

What differentiates a bulb from a perennial plant is that the nourishment for the flower is stored within the bulb itself.…There is something miraculous about the way that a little grenade of dried up tissue can explode into a complete flower.

Hi Kathy,

That’s a great idea! My husband will be celebrating his birthday next month and I just made a plan almost similar to this one. Anyway, belated happy birthday to you! I will wait for the update on this wonderful project. 😀

Nothing says Happy Birthday like a big pile of gravel – or soil, or mulch for that matter! Can’t wait to see the progress!

That is a wonderful birthday present. Full of thought and the promise of a dream realized.
