Saudi Arabia: the next cold climate?

I found this blog because it links to me in its sidebar, and I have been getting a few visits a week from this site. I noticed today there is a series of photos that appear to be snow on desert-like regions. I say “appear” because the blog is written in a language I don’t understand, and I am only guessing. But an image of a man in Arab dress, standing next to a snow-dusted car, certainly grabs your attention. If anyone can read this blog and provide an explanation for the photos, I’d love to know more.

Update:Going by this post, which was on the previous page, a cold front is over the Arab Peninsula, dropping temperatures below freezing. I have tried googling for more information, but haven’t found anything, either because I’m limiting the search to English results, or because it is a hoax. Certainly there is a comment on this post that makes that accusation.

Hi Kathy,
The whole thing is a hoax as you said, it’s a part of a toothpaste advertisement campaign, apparently they are using a shock approach, where they try to get all the people attention throw spreading a hoax and then eventually revealing the anomaly between the toothpaste and the temperature drop somehow !!

for me the temperature that can melt down my car cassette (done to me many times !!) , can’t just drop below zero in a couple of days 🙂

Thank you, H. Khaili, for your clarification. I certainly am not intending to spread any lies. I was attempting to ask some questions in order to find out the truth. You have answered my questions and I am grateful. (For those not using the celsius scale, 45C is 113F)

The blog you referred to has wrong information and it’s published by an anonymous person.
He claims that the temperature in the Arab Peninsula will drop down to zero. These expectations are not based on anything true he just put them there in his blog without even replying to all those questions he’d received everyday. I don’t know why would anyone say this and even start a blog to spread his lies.

We want to believe this, but we just can’t! the temperature is soaring outside.. it’s 45C!!

p.s the pictures of the snow posted in his blog are old, they have been taken in Tabuk a city in Saudi Arabia. Tabuk is located in the North of SA and has borders with Jordan.. it snows there in winter.

Kathy: This is completely off topic, but I wanted to let you know that I’ve tagged you for a meme. Go to my post to learn more.
