Kathy Purdy discovered the joys of writing in fourth grade, when she started corresponding with a former classmate. She's been writing letters ever since, first on looseleaf, then electronically, and now as weblog entries. That makes you, the blog reader, her pen pal. Her first independent (though frustrating) attempts at gardening were made in high school, though the gardening bug didn't bite hard until her mid-thirties, when she found herself mistress of a rural home on 15 acres. • USDA Hardiness Zone:4 • AHS Heat Zone: 3 • Location: rural; Southern Tier of NY • Geographic type: foothills of Appalachian Mountains • Soil Type: acid clay • Experience level: intermediate • Particular interests: colchicums, narcissus, cottage gardening, NY native plants, gardening with/for children

Nor am I the least surprised. I don’t comment here often and I get too busy to travel around the blogosphere much but I love your blog. Always have. Congratulations, Kathy!

Thank you everyone. I understand that Horticulture’s list was a reflection of the personal preferences of the staff and wasn’t intended to be an objective evaluation of quality (if there could be such a thing). Many excellent blogs were not on that list, and I hope they don’t feel snubbed. I am grateful to have so many faithful readers, even though I don’t publish as consistently or as frequently as I would wish. Thanks for sticking with me!

Well you know I already congratulated you and just actually came by to tell you how good the theme looks. Very nice and it loads fast for me. Every thing is working. Good colors on the eyes.
I want to thank you for participating in Operation Christmas Child. We raised $800 and made 20 boxes for the little kids. . I’ll drop the boxes off on Monday and write about them Tuesday.
