I am at a point where I think tomorrow (Quebec Holiday) will be ALL about weeds. In one week I can barely see my little bean bushes. *sighs* Ah well, it will be a beautiful day and I’ll bring a nice little bench to sit on! LOL!

We’ve had rain and rain, but I don’t even need warmth to have weeds. We have our Annual Rose Viewing coming up (and a Virtual Rose Viewing page on my blog) so I’m warning people there will be weeds as well as roses. And peonies. The rains have mostly been gentle so even the peonies haven’t been knocked down or smashed.

We’ve had lots of rain the last couple of weeks, too. I try to keep up with the weeds, but so far, I have had enough other things I’ve had to do, that the weeds are ahead of me. I just went to my garden across the street to take photos of the ladybugs, and I couldn’t tell I’d done a good weeding job a few days ago.

As you said, there are also lots of blooms!

We had 3.2 inches of rain up here in the Rochester area. It was crazy and yes – the weeds are enjoying it!

Rented last August. It was dry. It did slow to a trickle/wet ground between deluges. It’s a nice little creek for the turtle.

If they have been there since snowmelt, maybe they are permanent. This has been a wetter than usual spring, but our place dried up in between deluges. But more rain fell east of us, which you are. When did you buy/rent the property? Did it look sopping wet then, or was it covered in snow?

So, I can assume these “seeps” will be gone later in the season? Because I’m constructing a creek, complete with gravel along the bottom and a place for my box turtle, now. It’s been like this basically since the snow started melting!

Yes, it’s a different kind of world and a different kind of gardening. Seeps and springs come up out of the ground, usually only in early spring around here.

This water coming from the ground thing… See, I lived in the desert for 20 years. I remember there’s a word for this phenomenon… So much rain that water just oozes up out of the ground creating a stream that I’m having to route around the garden… Raised beds not high enough… water soaked roots not draining…

On a little side note, my compost heavy areas are sprouting all kinds of volunteer toms and peppers! Looks like some eggplants too. In the desert, only what was next to the drip irrigation actually grew, but here! Yikes! Everything that can grows!
