Kathy Purdy discovered the joys of writing in fourth grade, when she started corresponding with a former classmate. She's been writing letters ever since, first on looseleaf, then electronically, and now as weblog entries. That makes you, the blog reader, her pen pal. Her first independent (though frustrating) attempts at gardening were made in high school, though the gardening bug didn't bite hard until her mid-thirties, when she found herself mistress of a rural home on 15 acres. •

It soon becomes clear to the gardener, who has probably started out to achieve a certain bloom, that the cycle of life in the plant is a good bit more enjoyable than the bloom itself.

Yes, and I have nominated KP about 40 times for every category!

That is a tough one
There are quite a few bloggers out there who satisfy both, I think.
Colleen, I’ve always been disappointed that the Webbie Award creators didn’t see fit to give Gardening its own category, so I’m glad to see you’ve picked up the slack. I plan on considering my nominations very carefully. Hmm . . . who would I want for a gardening neighbor, the nicest blogger or the one with the best plants to swap with?

Kathy, thank you for plugging the Mouse & Trowels. Yours is such a highly respected blog, I’m sure you’ll generate plenty of interest for the awards. I’m looking forward to seeing your nominations!!
Thanks again
