By the way, change my feed in your feed reader
by Kathy Purdy on October 1, 2006
Would all of you long-time subscribers to my feed please change it to my new feedburner feed: http://feeds.feedburner.com/ColdClimateGardening . This will enable me to keep better statistics on who is using a feed to keep in touch and even add more functionality to it in the future.
Thanks, I appreciate it.
Kathy Purdy discovered the joys of writing in fourth grade, when she started corresponding with a former classmate. She's been writing letters ever since, first on looseleaf, then electronically, and now as weblog entries. That makes you, the blog reader, her pen pal. Her first independent (though frustrating) attempts at gardening were made in high school, though the gardening bug didn't bite hard until her mid-thirties, when she found herself mistress of a rural home on 15 acres. •

That's why it's good to have family or old friends. They keep you from becoming a prisoner of your own obsessions. The world is wide, there are other pleasures in it besides gardening, and sometimes we gardeners just need to have that pointed out to us.

Heather:
There is a very helpful site called Garden Watchdog:

They are a great place to check for reputable companies, and to post about your bad experiences.
Good luck next time!
I am wondering how to spread the word about a horrible experience I had with an online retailer for high country plants. I want to tell everyone I know not to use DirectGardening.com. I received my first order from them and it was moldy and much smaller than expected. They don’t list the sizes of their plants on their website and they only encourage you to snail mail them. Their customer service when you do call them is awful. I cancelled my subsequent order after receiving the first poor quality order. I was waiting for a refund that never came and had to call 7 times and spoke with several different people that provided false promises that I would get my money back. I never received a shipment and they won’t refund my money because they said I provided them with an invalid address. I provided them with a valid physical address but because they ship USPS they needed my PO Box address. You’d think they would have contacted me when the shipment was returned to them but they didn’t. Instead, they refuse to refund me. On one call, the man at Direct Gardening said that the money was being kept for the packaging and prep and I was told by someone else there that wasn’t true. They absolutely don’t have their act together in terms of their product or service and didn’t handle my situation well at all. I’d like others to shop elsewhere and avoid this headache. I’ve heard great things about High Country Gardens. Any help getting this posted would be greatly appreciated! – Heather
Hi Kathy. But I like seeing the pictures and the full text in my reader (NetNewsWire). Is there a setting you can and are willing to change to make that possible? Or is it something I’m doing wrong?
Thanks!
