Three new gardening blogs

by Kathy Purdy on November 13, 2005

It used to be that every time I added a new gardening blog to my directory I would also announce it here. That hasn’t been the case for quite a while now. I have been adding new blogs to the directory as I learn about them (usually via author email) but I don’t mention it here. Waaaaaay down at the bottom of the sidebar there is a section entitled “Random Reads” which posts a random selection of the blogs listed in the directory, but if you haven’t checked out the full directory you should stop by and see if you’ve missed anything. Just tonight I added three blogs: one from Maryland, one from Australia, and one from Sweden. The Garden Blog Directory is listed in the menu in the sidebar. Stop by any time, and if you don’t see your favorite, drop me an email and let me know!

About

Kathy Purdy discovered the joys of writing in fourth grade, when she started corresponding with a former classmate. She's been writing letters ever since, first on looseleaf, then electronically, and now as weblog entries. That makes you, the blog reader, her pen pal. Her first independent (though frustrating) attempts at gardening were made in high school, though the gardening bug didn't bite hard until her mid-thirties, when she found herself mistress of a rural home on 15 acres. • USDA Hardiness Zone:4 • AHS Heat Zone: 3 • Location: rural; Southern Tier of NY • Geographic type: foothills of Appalachian Mountains • Soil Type: acid clay • Experience level: intermediate • Particular interests: colchicums, narcissus, cottage gardening, NY native plants, gardening with/for children

If the garden was a secret and we could get into it we could watch the things grow bigger every day, and see how many roses are alive. Don't you see? Oh, don't you see how much nicer it would be if it was a secret?

Hi Kathy – Yeah, I’ve been looking at the countdown timer too – thanks for the link to The Garden as I hadn’t seen it working until now.

I’m using some of the same plugins. Did you know there is a plugin to help you display all your plugins? Can’t remember the name or where I saw it at the moment. When I finally make my About page I’m thinking of using it. I’m also thinking of using Countdown Timer.
I saw it at The Garden, where it is used to count down the days until the last expected frost.

Hi Kathy – I finally got the feed plugin working. I’ve put a list of all the plugins I’ve added to my site here: http://www.wildburro.co.uk/about-the-wild-burros/ (scroll down to see the list)

Hi Kathy and thanks for including my blog in your list :)

I’ve been toying with a way of displaying a list of RSS feeds in my (WordPress powered) blog too, but to no avail. How did you actually manage to bury the Bloglines information into a page on your site?
