I really like to read stories about how bloggers came into being. I had no idea you had such an illustrious background in garden writing.

I guess I started reading you not long after you switched to Movable Type. You (and a few others) pointed me in the direction I wanted to go with my own blog.

Hi there, I still check in now and then to see what you are up to. Sometimes I get too busy to make the usual rounds. You've been around for a long time I see. I hope you keep around for a while yet, it gives us newer folks inspiration.

I find I get very frustrated with the unwritten stuff. It falls together so well in my head while I lie between thought and sleep, and never comes out right in the morning...

I just received my first issue of Horticulture Magazine and found your website listed. I was thrilled! We've lived here on the coast of Maine for two years and I've been gardening as much as I can. Just amending the soil has been a huge project. It's so nice to find a site where I can find out what will and will not grow in our Zone 5a climate. I'm actually amazed at what will grow here, albeit in a very short growing season. I lost quite a few perennials last year due to the lack of snow cover during a very cold spell. This year seems to be a bit milder so I am anticipating good regrowth in the spring. I'm looking so forward to hearing about everyone's trials and tribulations!
