Isn't it amazing how gardening scratches so many itches? I won't be surprised if before too long your file cabinet gets converted to a virtual relational database...what do you think? : D

I've often fantasized--er, thought about switching to a database, but I don't see it happening anytime soon. It takes time to set one up, and time to maintain it. Also, since I don't take my computer out to the garden, I would first write the data on a piece of paper and then enter it into the computer. That extra step takes time I don't have. But it would definitely be more fun.

It boggles the mind......
but thank God for people with this talent for organization to serve up blogfeeds;) and the details that make for a successful garden.

Now ..let me guess.... your garden style is 'collecter'? Do you have any formal hedges or classical style?

Just extrapolating.

Got a post on what style you garden in?

No, I don't think I have a post specifically on my garden style. And maybe in another life (or another stage in this one), I would be a collector, someone who obsessively collects one genera or species, (although I suppose come closest with colchicums). Cottage gardening is more me, or more my lifestyle. That is, make do or do without, fit it in wherever there is room. If you had been able to read from the beginning of this blog, you might catch on that I have a lot of kids and I homeschool them. Right there, that would tell you that if I managed to find time to garden, my garden style would be kid-proof. I also have to account for the chicken yard and coop in my garden designs. As for being organized, it happens more in my plans than in reality. This is not the first file cabinet to come into the house, yet I still have boxes labeled "To be filed" scattered all over. Not that any of the file cabinets are empty, it's just that I'm perpetually behind on my filing.

Kathleen Purdy, over at Cold Climate Gardening takes the Garden Diary concept a step further, she uses a Garden Filing Cabinet! Now, you could argue that's taking it a bit far, but you gotta respect here dedication! Way to go...
